About Katie

Born and raised in Hazleton, Pa,  Katie made the move to the "Big Apple" years ago after spending much time traveling the US doing regional theatre. Katie holds a B.A. from DeSales University and has acted with many professional companies. A proud member of Actors Equity, she has performed with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, A Theatre for the New City, The American Renaissance Theater, 29th Street Rep, Primary Stages, Manhattan Theatre Source, Main Street Theatre, Blatt's Theatre, The Pulse Theatre Ensemble, and the Wolfhart Haus Theatre. In addition she is a member of the Workshop Theatre http://workshoptheater.org/.

As an actor who appreciates all genres, it is important to Kate to be well rounded. Singing is one of her greatest passions. She may be small in stature, but not in singing voice or style. While her strong suit is being a mezzo soprano belter, she can easily swing soprano or alto. She has appeared in such musicals as Grease, Good News, West Side Story, Babes In Arms, and Hello Dolly. She can also be found every Sunday night at 6pm leading the Saint Malachy's mass in song.

In the areas of Television and Film she has appeared on MTV's Yo Momma, a commercial for the hit show "24" and in the Sundance Film "First Person Singular". As if she weren't busy enough, she is also the Program Coordinator at the Morchand Center for Clinical Competence at Mount Sinai. Katie has been with the Morchand Center for almost three years in many capacities, first as a Standardized Patient (SP), then moving on to working as an SP Trainer and Program Facilitator. In her current capacity as Program Coordinator, she is able to combine her love for the medical profession with her passion for acting. She also oversees the computer and video systems that are used at the Morchand Center as well as the casting of actors.

"How Lovely to Be a Woman"

.

I started as mostly a musical theatre performer, but wanted to be well-rounded.  In addition to singing and dancing,  I really love the art of acting.  Appreciating acting and all that comes with building a character is at the core of all performing.  I wanted to read plays, learn about directing, and study many acting methods.  I went to college for theatre, not musical, and decided to get a BA instead of BFA.  I still stayed active in musical theatre, but I began to branch out into straight acting, Shakespeare, film and television.
